Successful OurCrowd Summit Highlights Rising Global Interest in Investing in Israel

13/02/2018
In 2017, Israeli high-tech companies raised $5.24 billion, an increase from $4.83 billion in 2016.

This year, investment in Israel is already off to a great start (see top January investments here), with deals spanning cybersecurity, telehealth and automotive tech. The good news is it doesn’t look like it's going to slow down any time soon.

The recent 2018 OurCrowd Global Investor Summit, held earlier this month in Jerusalem, was an incredible event that united the global investment and tech ecosystem with Israeli players.

The event included more than 10,000 attendees from 90 countries. Over a trillion dollars of managed capital was represented, including nearly 1,000 startups, more than 300 multinational corporations, 225 venture capitalists, and journalists and TV crews from around the world.

Invest in Israel was proud to participate in one of the largest investment events ever held in Israel and to meet with hundreds of international investors, executives, and key decision makers.

Aviad Tamir, Head of Invest in Israel’s Life Sciences Sector, commented: “The OurCrowd Summit was a great platform to create new relationships and cultivate existing ties with various multinationals and investors from around the world. These connections will help create additional meaningful investments in the Israeli economy. We are in talks with potential investors that are currently in the process of investing in various industries in and setting up operation here.”

Invest in Israel representatives also met with tech innovators, inventors and the entrepreneurs behind them. “We were thrilled to see the latest wave of promising technology, and to meet and network with peers and C-level executives.” added Tamir.
The event theme focused on “The Innovation Revolution,” celebrating and discovering the evolving technology creation and implementation taking place within an interconnected global ecosystem, with emphasis on Israel's role within it.

The summit focused on many of the world’s top tech trends, including cybersecurity, smart mobility, artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain, retail-tech and health tech, and how Israeli companies are helping to pave the way in all of these areas.

It is clear that Israel’s unique business environment and innovative thinking are helping to pave the path for the new era of technology revolutions. This position is further supported by two recent surveys, US News & World Report and Bloomberg News, which ranked Israel as one of the top 10 most powerful and innovative nations in the world.
While we at Invest in Israel already know the incredible investment opportunities Israel has to offer, the recent OurCrowd Summit is further proof that global companies are also taking notice.

Israel is quickly becoming a key destination for foreign investment – for both R&D and manufacturing. We look forward to collaborating with all of the executives we met at this year’s summit.

Here’s to a successful 2018!
