Google, headquartered in Mountain View, California, first opened an office in Israel back in 2006, when the search giant was still something of a startup at just five years old. Nowadays Google offers dozens of products and services—including various forms of advertising and web applications for all kinds of tasks. It supports over 100 languages at various levels.
Google's Israeli R&D centers have developed products for use by millions of people around the world in such areas as search, analytics, backend technologies for Gmail, and apps, such as Google Autocomplete, Live Results and Instant Insights for Search, Website Optimizer, Chart Tools, "Got the wrong Bob?", etc. In addition, the local centers worked on the infrastructure software behind a variety of Google products, doing important research on algorithms, machine learning, game theory, computer vision, and data mining. Google Israel has created over 1000 jobs. The company's goal for Israel in the next three years is to play a meaningful role in the "lives" of 6,000 local startups.
